Christmas at Malton Relish
Christmas is our favourite time of year here at Malton Relish. We spend most of the year thinking it!
This year we are offering something a little different to help with the Covid measures.
If you are on your own for Christmas, let us do all the work for you and deliver a slap up turkey dinner, complete with all the trimmings. This can be popped into the oven to warm through, with all the preparation and cooking done so there is no need to miss out!
Alternatively if you are lucky enough to have company, we are offering all the vegetables and sides needed to make the lunch a fabulous one without the stress. All you have to concentrate on is the cooking of the turkey!
Christmas Dinner

Lots of people ask us what’s in a figgy pudding and how is it different from a Christmas pud?
Firstly, we use dried figs which we soak in local ale for 24hrs. Then we cut them up and add raisins, currants, sultanas, prunes, mixed peel, chopped nuts and ground almonds. Separately we beat Wensleydale butter with soft dark brown sugar, to which we add local free range eggs.
Next comes flour that has been grown & stone-ground near Driffield. All of this goes into the mix with fresh white breadcrumbs, black treacle and lots of spices.
Once we’ve stirred it all up and spooned it into the bowls, they get steamed for anything from 3 – 8 hrs, depending on their size.
Lastly, we vac pack them, label them and wrap them up in lovely tissue paper to present to you.
All you need to do is warm one up in the microwave and add some brandy sauce.

Christmas Cakes
Our fabulous fruit cake won a Great Taste Award in 2019. It's packed full of fruit and nuts, and is available in several sizes. The ingredients include currants, sultanas, figs, mixed peel, cherries, crystalized ginger and almonds.
Mincemeat, Mince Pies & Brandy Butter
You can never have enough mince pies in the house! We have a large tin in the kitchen cupboard which is full of dents and seemingly always empty, regardless of how many times you fill it up!
Our mincemeat recipe includes lots of local apples grated and added to raisins, sultanas, currants and peel, along with brown sugar and masses of lemon and orange zest. Purposely not too sweet.
