Just a hop skip and a jump till Easter

April is knocking on the door and yet this is the first newsletter I've managed.

I'm happy to report that we have had a much better start to the year than the press has "hoped" for. That is compared to the negative news and general misery that the news papers told us we were going to have. Am I the only one naïve enough to still believe the newspapers? News reporters almost seemed upset today to announce that trade through February had been better than expected and that the British High Street was holding its own. We've all had a couple of really tough years but hopefully the worst is now behind us and the summer of '23 is going to be full of sunshine and happiness and maybe a little sprinkling of fairly dust for all those grumpy news reporters!

Easter is only two weeks away (Yikes!) a celebration to look forward to, whether its to bake a few cup cakes to hand out to neighbours or a huge feast for family or friends we must make the most of the opportunities.

Starting with Good Friday I am delighted to share with you that we are offering a fantastic Sea Food Feast. aimed at those who have a house full coming to stay and not knowing what the weather forecast will bring we thought a huge table feast from which everyone can pick and choose and generally help themselves might be easier than a fish pie. We work closely with Malton Fisheries and Staal Smokehouse so have put together a collection of their greatest hits and added a few of the Relish staples to make sure that no body gets stuck in the kitchen.

Is Easter really Easter without Roast Lamb? We think not so in order to keep the local farmers smiling we are also offering a boned leg of Yorkshire Lamb, again pre order only. These will be coming to us from Radfords with fully traceability. Just for guidance we reckon a 2kg leg of lamb will feed 8 with leftovers.

Fish Pies will also be available from the fridge. Made using smoked haddock, cod, salmon and prawns in a parsley sauce with mash on top. Please bring dishes to the deli no later than next friday 31st March for filling. Again for collection on or after Thursday 6th.

Hot Cross Buns are available now, coming into us daily, if you would like a huge amount please let us know and we can order them in advance. We will have a good quantity in stock on 6th & 7th.

I've made a great batch of Simnel Cakes which are selling well. I hope I made enough, please shout up if you haven't yet got one.

Last but absolutely not least our Easter Eggs have this year been made for us by Bridgate Chocolatiers and they are absolutely beautiful. We have bunnies, chicks, owls and butterflies on offer, they almost look too good to eat - almost.

But not everything new is along the Easter theme. In the sunshine department we have dusted off the Ice Cream Freezer are filled it with tubs of deliciousness from Ryeburn of Helmsley. In the 500ml department we have Vanilla, Chocolate, Cookies & Cream, Blueberry Panna Cotta (my unexpected favourite), Cinder Toffee and Lemon Curd. To throw a spanner in the works we also have Blackcurrant Sorbet and Mango Sorbet. In slightly smaller tubs (125ml) for immediate consumption we have Vanilla, Strawberry and Chocolate.
